Within a short drive of the hotel the villages of Killin and Dalmally have attractive and welcoming 9 hole courses.

Skiing

Best Western The Crianlarich Hotel is only a short drive (30 minutes) from Glencoe Mountain Resort, one of Scotland's leading winter resorts. The snow is at its best from mid January until mid April and our hotel is a very popular base for the Scottish skiing community. Skiing is Scotland is very reasonably priced, great fun and the snow is increasingly reliable - no wonder that the popularity of Scottish skiing is growing so quickly! 

In the 2017/18 ski pre-season we were proud to donate £2.5k to the crowd-funding initiative that provided the "Snow Factory" at Glencoe Mountain, guaranteeing a fixed start and a solid ski season every year. This is a huge step forward for Scottish ​winter sports and we were happy to do our part to help.

Mountain Biking/Cycling

Glencoe Mountain Resort, one of Scotland's leading year round resorts, offers world class mountain biking routes year round. The peak months (when the skiers and snowboarders have packed up) are May-October. The Crianlarich Hotel is only a short drive (30 minutes) from the resort. The resort has trails suitable for all levels of experience and offers rental equipment.

Crianlarich is also a good base for road cyclists given our convenient location. We have secure storage for your equipment and a warm boot room to air your kit. Don’t forget, we are less than 200 yards from Crianlarich railway station so you can easily bring your bicycle with you when visiting us, even if you don’t have access to a motor car.

Wildlife

Munro Bagging

Crianlarich is at the heart of a famous climbing area and the visitor is spoilt for choice in terms of Munros and Corbetts with over 30 within close range. Crianlarich is in the district of Breadalbane ("Brághad Albainn") which translates as "high country of Scotland". Many of our bedrooms enjoy commanding views of the iconic Ben More and Stob Binnein. Our staff will be happy to advise you on interesting local climbs and we have a good bootroom to air your kit after a long day. We have a page dedicated to Munro Bagging!

Cruises

Crianlarich is in the  Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park and is just 10 miles from the northern shores of the UK’s largest loch (lake). Loch Lomond and its environs were given National Park status in 2002 in recognition of the “outstanding and diverse landscapes, habitats and communities” in the area. The park is one of only two in the country.
One of the best ways to see the loch is by boat. Cruise Loch Lomond, the award winning local cruise company, operate a fleet of comfortable cruise vessels all the year round..

Whisky

Scotland is the home of whisky and Crianlarich has famous distilleries that can be visited with just a short drive. Oban Distillery is located in the centre of Oban and runs guided tours throughout the year (except January).

Alternatively, why not visit Glenturret distillery? Glenturret is rumoured to be the oldest distillery in Scotland and has a fascinating visitor centre which is open year round. Just 50 minutes’ drive (towards Crieff).
